Ryder CUP 2025: Team Europe Legends suggests the role of playing captain in Kegan Bradley can be “the worst decision ever” | Golf news

The former Ryder Cup captain, Sam Tournce, believes that it will be “the worst decision ever” if Kigan Bradley chooses to take over the player’s captain for the United States of America in Bethpage Black.

The first six names were confirmed in the US squad after the BMW Championship on Sunday, with Scotti Chefler, JJ Spaun, Xander Schauflee, Harris English, Russell Heeny, and Bryson Dechambeau automatic qualifiers.

Bradley will nominate his six captain’s choices on Wednesday, August 27, following the conclusion of the round championship, as the 39 -year -old is still not sure whether he will choose himself and become the first leader to play since Arnold Palmer in 1963.

“As of now, I don’t know what I will do,” Bradley – who ranked eleventh in the ranking of the Rider Cup qualifications – admitted on Monday. “I will do better for the American Rider Cup.”

Bradley won the title of the eighth PGA round in the Traverels Championship in June, which is No. 13, although Torrance believes that it would be wrong for him to take a double role in the competition every two years next month.

“This will be the worst decision made by a captain if the captain is playing,” Torrance Tell Sky SPORTS GOLF PODCAST. “I don’t think you can do that.

“There are things the captain should do. He must put the couple on Friday and Saturday and is the only player in the American team who can speak to his team.

“You cannot enter another person to the sixteenth, saying:“ He has hit five iron, and he hit six iron ”-he is only the captain. He cannot collect enough information about his other teams from which he had left that morning in the afternoon.

“It is a very difficult scenario. I mean it is No. 7 (thus: 13) in the world, it must play. The right thing is to play and give the right to (Gym) Ferik or anyone else.”

Bradley has not appeared in the Rider Cup since its appearance in 2012 and 2014, both of which won the European team, where Sir Nick Valdo interrogated the legacy that the American can leave himself if he would be occupied as a losing playing leader.

“If he is playing, the fans will say” You are selfish, “then the media will say that you were lost because you did not do your duties, you live in remorse on the rest of your life.”

“It is a shameful thing. Frankly, it is difficult to reach the team and must play. He must give up the captain and play, because when will you get another chance for him?

“He loves to play and – as a player – you want to play.”

Valdo: The United States of America does not frighten us!

The home feature was traditional key in the Rider Cup, as Europe scored only four wins in the history of the Rider Cup and each competition has been going to the hosts since the “Miracle in Medinah” in 2012.

The United States of America team won a record margin the last time that the competition was held on American soil in 2021, although Valdo – is part of a far victory in 1987 and 1995 – believes that the Europeans will show the challenge of making history in New York.

“These (Americans) do not let you go, right?” Valdo added. “Schauffle is out of the model today and will be a new experience for SPAun.

“Look what happened to Shifler’s silence in the last one with Broks Coybek – was that in the ninth and seven? Oh my God, hardly got your dirty shoes for that.

“He has a lot (Shifler) to prove it. When you are on this summit, like Rorrei in our team, you are a feather for the other team.

“Just because you are the best, this does not mean that you will do it automatically. When their names are included, no, it does not scare you.”
