West Indies national cricket team captain Roston Chase cleaned up Indian national cricket team star batsman Dhruv Gurriel in the second and final Test match of the series on Saturday, October 11.

Roston Chase also gave Dhruv Gurriel a death stare after he picked up his own wicket in the first innings of the match at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.

Dhruv Gurriel was not even 50 years old when Ruston Chase fired him

Gurriel has been playing as India’s wicketkeeper-batsman and first-choice batsman in the ongoing Test series against West Indies due to the absence of vice-captain Rishabh Pant. Pant was unable to get fit for the Test series against the Roston Chase-led side after sustaining an injury on the tour of England.

Dhruv Gurriel took advantage of his opportunity in place of Pant and struck a brilliant knock in the series opener at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. This led to calls for him to be retained in India’s Test playing XI even after Rishabh Pant’s return.

Meanwhile, Dhruv Gurriel continued his form in the second Test and showed impressive batting. He played some great shots when he got into the middle and looked set for another big score.

However, he fell six runs short of his fifty and was out having scored 44 runs off 79 balls with five boundaries. Jurel was cleaned out by the West Indies skipper while trying to reach a boundary in the 135th over.

On the second ball of the over, Roston Chase bowled a 89.6kph ball onto the stumps, and Gurriel cleared his front leg and tried to smash the ball across the line. However, he completely missed it and saw his trunks shaking. With his dismissal, India decided to declare the innings at 518/5 over.

He is sure to become India’s main wicket-keeper-batsman next time around – coach Dhruv Gurriel

Dhuv Jurel’s childhood coach, Fulchand Sharma, heaped rich praises on the young wicketkeeper-batsman and backed him to achieve massive success while comparing him to legend MS Dhoni.

Phulchand Sharma stated that Gurriel is different from Rishabh Pant and backed him to become the wicket-keeper and main batsman of the Indian team in the future.

“Rishabh Pant is a different kind of player. He is a keeper batsman. But Dhruv Gurriel is a keeper batsman. So if we are a Test team, we want a professional keeper to save. So, I can say that Dhruv Gurriel will be compared with MS Dhoni,” Fulchand Sharma told Sports Tak.

“He is performing great; he scored good runs for India A against Australia A at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow. And then, he smashed a century in the first Test against West Indies. He is playing great, he is a very senior player. He will definitely become India’s best wicketkeeper-batsman next time around,” Fulchand Sharma added.
