Russia said on Monday that everyone should be “very careful” regarding the nuclear discourse, as it responded to a statement issued by US President Donald Trump that he had ordered the re -placement of American nuclear submarines.
In the first public reaction to Trump’s comments, the Kremlin reduced its importance and said she was not looking to enter a public argument with him.
Trump said on Friday that he had ordered the transfer of nuclear divers to the “appropriate areas” in response to the statements of former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev over the danger of war between nuclear armed opponents.
“In this case, it is clear that American submarines are already in combat service. This is an ongoing process, this is the first thing,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters.
“But in general, of course, we do not want to participate in such a controversy and do not want to comment on it in any way,” he said. “Of course, we believe that everyone should be very careful with nuclear discourse.”
This episode comes in a sensitive moment, as Trump threatened to impose new sanctions on Russia and buyers of oil, including India and China, unless President Vladimir Putin agreed on Friday to end 3 and a half years War in Ukraine.
