Here are the main events on the 13th day of Russia’s war on Ukraine.

Here is how things stand on Sunday, September 21:

Fighting

  • Russian forces launched a widespread attack on missiles and drones, targeting areas throughout Ukraine, killing at least three people and wounding dozens, according to Ukrainian officials.
  • Ukrainian President Foludmir Zelinski said Russia fired 580 drones and 40 missiles, and that the attacks took place in nine regions, including Dniprovsk, Mykola and Mykola. Poltava, KYIV, Odesa, SUMY and KHARKIV.
  • The Ukrainian forces launched drones attacks on the southwestern Samara region, killing at least four people, according to the ruler Vyacheslav Fedorishchev on social media. The region is 800 km (497 miles) from the confrontation line in Ukraine.

Regional security

  • The armed forces in the country announced that Poland and its allies have defended their planes to ensure the safety of the Polish airspace early on Saturday after Russia launched attacks on western Ukraine.
  • The move came after Poland shot down the aircraft suspected of the airspace earlier this month, and Estonia said that three Russian military aircraft violated the airspace for 12 minutes on Friday.
  • Its government said that the United Kingdom also sent two fighters on the first NATO air defense to Poland as part of the Eastern Guard of the Alliance.
  • Lithuanian Defense Minister Duville Sakalin called on NATO to transfer the capabilities of air defense urgently to the front lines countries, saying that the citizens of NATO countries “are threatened almost every day now.”

Politics and diplomacy
