Fighting

• Russian President Vladimir Putin said his forces have captured nearly 5,000 square kilometers (1,930 square miles) of Ukrainian territory so far this year, and Moscow retains the strategic initiative on the battlefield.
• The Russian Defense Ministry said that Russian forces captured the Ukrainian villages of Novovasylivika in the southeastern Zaporizhya region and Vidoevka in the eastern Donetsk region.
• Russian air defense units destroyed 184 Ukrainian drones in recent attacks, reports the Lovy Novosti-owned news agency.
• Sergei Sobyanin, mayor of the Russian capital, said that Russian air defense units intercepted and destroyed a drone heading towards the city of Moscow.

• Ukraine’s Energy Minister Svetlana Hrynchuk said Russian air strikes caused “significant” damage to Ukrainian gas production capacity due to targeting regional gas infrastructure and energy transmission facilities in frontline regions.
