Waves of unmanned aircraft attacks and Kiev missiles targeted over Friday in the largest air attack since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine began more than three years ago, which resulted in the injury of 23 people and severe damage across multiple areas of the capital in a seven -hour attack.

The country’s air force said that Russia fired 550 drones and missiles throughout Ukraine during the night. The majority were drones, but Russia also fired 11 missiles in the attack.

“It was a harsh night without sleep,” said Ukrainian President Folodimir Zellinski.

Alice Shaalay, a 23 -year -old wedding photographer, said her house was destroyed.

“We were all in the” basement “shelter because it was very loudly; staying at home would be suicide,” she told Associated Press. “We fell 10 minutes ago, then there was a loud explosion and the lights came out in the shelter. People were panicked.”

Do not be in the latest Putin call, Trump says

Russia rises its long -term attacks on Ukrainian cities. Less than a week ago, Russia launched the largest air attack. This strategy coincided with a new batch by the largest forces in Russia along parts of the front line, which is approximately 1000 km, as the Ukrainian forces are under severe pressure.

The Russian Ministry of Defense said it had succeeded in hitting military targets in Kiev, while also seized the village of Predtechyne in the eastern Donetsk area.

The attack on Kyiv began on the same day, as a phone call was made between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin. Zelenskyy described the timing of strike a deliberate sign that Moscow has no intention to end the war.

Trump said that he will call Zeilinsky on Friday. The United States’ international peace efforts have not yet been fruitful.

The United States has suspended some shipments from military aid to Ukraine, including decisive air defense missiles. The main European supporters in Ukraine are considering how to help capture the recession. Zelenskyy says the plans are in full swing to build the local arms industry in Ukraine, but the expansion will take time.

When asked if he had made any progress with Putin in a deal to end the fighting in Ukraine, Trump said: “No, I did not make any progress with him today.”

“I am not happy with that. I am not happy with that,” Trump said of Russia’s war in Ukraine.

According to Yuri Ushakov, Putin’s foreign affairs advisor, the Russian leader confirmed that Moscow will seek to achieve its goals in Ukraine and remove the “root causes” of the conflict.

“Russia will not back down from these goals,” Ushakov told reporters after the call.

Putin argued that he sent forces to Ukraine in February 2022 to coincide with a threat to Russia, which is posed by the Ukraine batch to join NATO and protect Russian speakers in Ukraine – the arguments that Kiev and its allies rejected. He insisted that any possible peace deal should see Ukraine abandoning NATO and recognizing the regional gains of Russia.

In Russia, Ukraine launched a drone attack on the Sergev Posad area, near Moscow, early on Friday, which resulted in a harmful infrastructure of power, the region’s president said.

Oksana Yerkhanova wrote in a post on the Telegram correspondence application that at least four explosions were recorded throughout the region – about 75 km of Kremlin – and that an electrical sub -station was damaged, leaving parts of the area without electricity.

In the southern Russian region of Rostov, a woman was killed as a result of the attack of drones in Ukraine, destroying many residential buildings and forced to evacuate dozens of people from their homes, the Acting Governor of the region said on Friday.

The size of the attack on Russia was not immediately known. There was no comment from Ukraine.

In general, Kiev says its attacks inside Russia aim to destroy the infrastructure key to the Moscow war efforts and a retreat from the Russian strikes on Ukraine.

On Thursday, the Russian army confirmed the killing of the brigade. Mikhail Judkov, Vice President of the Russian Navy.

The Defense Ministry of Russia said that Judkov – who obtained a great military honor by Putin in February and appointed him to the highest marine position in March – was killed on Wednesday “during combat work in a border area in the Corsak region,” which is next to Ukraine.

The unofficial Russian and Ukrainian military channels reported that Godikov was killed, along with soldiers and other officers, in a Ukrainian missile attack in the position of command in the Russian Corsak region with the Himarz missile in the United States.

Reuters could not independently verify how Judkov, 42, or what he was doing in Korsk.
