Indonesian President Prabu Subanto said that the relationship between the two countries “is getting more powerful.”
Russian President Vladimir Putin met his Indonesian counterpart Prabu Subino, where Moscow offers to strengthen relations in the global south amid Western efforts to isolate the country after its war on Ukraine.
On Thursday, Putin and Babo met in the Russian city of Saint Petersburg and signed a declaration of the strategic partnership.
Danara, the sovereign wealth fund in Indonesia, and the Russian Direct Investment Fund, which was the executive managers in Saint Petersburg, signed an agreement to establish an investment fund worth 2 billion euros ($ 2.29 billion).
In a statement after the talks, Brabu said that the relationship between the two countries “has become stronger again.”
He said: “My meeting with President Putin today was intense, warm and fruitful. In all areas of the economy, technical cooperation, trade, investment and agriculture – they all witnessed significant improvements.”
Moreover, during the meeting at the Constantine Palace, Putin confessed to entering Indonesia to Brex (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) from emerging economies as a complete member.

“Our relations with Indonesia are developing steadily. Trade is increasing. We have good possibilities in a number of promising and very interesting areas of cooperation,” Putin said, according to the Russian news port.
He added: “This includes agriculture, space and energy, as well as technical military cooperation. Our interaction is very wonderful, and it grows.”
Since the largest economy in Southeast Asia depends primarily on coal as a source of strength, despite its tremendous capabilities of renewable energy sources such as water energy, solar energy and thermal energy, Indonesia seeks to increase energy generation while placing carbon emissions, taking into account nuclear energy as a solution.
As Jakarta maintained a neutral foreign policy, it has followed an accurate balance between regional competitors, China and the United States.
But Prabu, who reached the authority last year, is looking to diversify the country’s alliances instead of relying heavily on Western partners.
His decision to skip G7 Summit In Canada this week in favor of talks with Putin, it raised concerns about the tendency towards Moscow, analysts said, after the two countries held the first joint naval training last year.
Meanwhile, the Russian leader said that on Friday, he and Rabu will participate in the plenary session of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.
