Diesel took to the stage to present an award and immediately addressed his former co-star with an unexpected shout-out. The moment marked the first high-profile interaction between the two action stars in years. Their feud began nearly a decade ago during the production of “The Fate of the Furious” (the eighth installment of the series).

While both Vin Diesel and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson have remained tight-lipped about the roots of their tension, cryptic social media posts and veiled interviews have fans speculating.

Vin Diesel calls out the rockers at the Golden Globes

When Vin Diesel took to the stage to present an award at the 2025 Golden Globe Awards on Sunday night, one of his first statements was a tribute to his famous friend Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.

“Hi Dwayne,” Diesel said with a somewhat awkward smile, drawing reluctant laughter from the star-studded audience. Johnson seemed unfazed by this gesture, nodding his head and giving a small smile in return.

Although it seemed like the two actors had reconciled before, fans are now speculating that the beef may not be over after all.

One social media user said: “Vin Diesel’s ‘Hi, Dwayne’ was so loaded!!!!! This is the kind of crap I live for!!! While another person wrote: ‘Hi Dwayne’ by Vin Diesel is The measly level I aspire to in 2025. #GoldenGlobes.”

The Fast & Furious franchise is known for its thrilling storylines and explosive stunts, but behind the scenes, the real drama unfolded between two of its biggest stars: Vin Diesel and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. Their feud, which lasted for years, made headlines and cast a shadow over one of Hollywood’s most successful film franchises.

In 2016, during the production of the eighth installment “The Fate of the Furious,” tensions between Diesel and Johnson reached a boiling point. A source close to the production said People magazineThat their cases had been “accumulating for months.”

“Finn has been having issues with The Rock because The Rock keeps showing up late to production,” the source explained. “Sometimes it doesn’t come at all, and it delays production.”

The insider’s comments came shortly after Johnson posted a now-deleted Instagram message in August 2016. In the post, he appeared to call out Diesel without directly mentioning his name. “No other franchise makes my blood boil more than this,” the actor wrote at the time. “My female actors are always great and I love them. However, my male actors are a different story. Some carry themselves like stand-up men and real professionals, while others don’t.”

He added: “People who aren’t too ashamed to do anything about it anyway. Candy-a–es. When you watch this movie next April and it looks like I’m not acting in some of these scenes and my blood is legitimately boiling — you’re right.”

Finn seems to have made an effort to keep things cordial with Dwayne, as he praised his performance in the series and even publicly urged the “Moana” star to return for “Fast X.”

In November 2021, Finn took to Instagram, where he shared that he promised his late co-star Paul Walker that the franchise would reach a tenth installment. “As you know, my kids refer to you as Uncle Dwayne at my house. There’s not a holiday that goes by without you and me sending them well wishes…but it’s time,” Finn wrote. “I say this out of love…but you must show up, don’t leave the franchise idle, you have a very important role to play.”

But Dwayne saw Finn’s letter as “an example of his manipulation.” CNN In December 2021, “I didn’t like that he raised his kids in office, and Paul Walker died. Leave them out of it.”

Despite the tension, the two were eventually able to bury the hatchet in 2023 when Dwayne confirmed his return for “Fast X: Part 2,” scheduled for release in 2026.

“Last summer, Finn and I put the past behind us,” he shared on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, in June of that year. “We will lead with brotherhood and determination, always caring about the franchise, the characters and the fans we love.”

“Despite our differences, Finn and I have been like brothers for years,” Dwayne admitted, explaining that they decided to put their feud behind them because “their plans are much bigger than ourselves.”

However, after the 2025 Golden Globe Awards, fans can only speculate where their relationship stands now.
