Former football president Luis Rubiales will appeal the Supreme Court after a fine by force Jenny Hermoso.
His lawyer said on Wednesday that former Spanish Football Association President Luis Rubiales will appeal the Supreme Court to confirm a fine of $ 12,600 (10,800-euro) by force Jenny Hermoso.
After a trial that has been strongly waiting for the country, the major criminal court in Spain in February Rubiales found guilty sexual assault For the 2023 Women’s World Cup, which generated global anger.
Audience Nacional also cleared him of a separate accusation of coercion of allegedly forcing Hermoso to reduce the accident after that.
Both parties objected to the sentence, which was less than two and a half years’ prisonership, sought by the prosecutors and feminist groups that disturbed the punishment as very lenient.
Rubiales confirmed that the qiblah was a consensual “click” among friends who celebrated during a medal ceremony after striker Hermoso helped to overcome England in the final match in Sydney, and he refused any coercion.
The court said in a statement on Wednesday that it refused to appeal the defense team and the prosecutors, while maintaining condemnation and a fine.
“The qiblah was not mutual,” and Hermoso expressed “her dissatisfaction with what happened, as she confirmed herself in the trial, as well as her teammates,” the court wrote.
“It cannot be said that a kiss in these circumstances was repeated, common or usual.”
The court also confirmed that Rubiales, former national team director Jorge Felda and two senior officials in the Federation, Albert Locke and Robin Rivera, were cleared of coercion charge.
Rubiais lawyer, Olga Tubao, told the news agency to Agence France Presse that he would appeal the ruling in the Supreme Court.
A separate request was rejected by the prosecutors to restart the trial, especially because of doubts about the judge’s neutrality.
The court also maintained a ban on Rubiales from going to a radius of 200 meters (656 feet) from Hermoso and from communicating with it for one year.
The qiblah led to a global uproar that forced Rubiales to abandon his position, and she saw him banned from all football activity for a period of three years, and the federation fell in a long period of turmoil.
This issue, Hermoso, made the best scorer ever for the national women’s team, an icon of battle against sexual discrimination and the culture of the muscles in sports.
Rubiales is also involved in an investigation into the alleged financial violations, which total millions of euros related to the transfer of the Spanish Super Cup to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which included a company owned by Barcelona Gerard Becky.
Rubiales rejected allegations as “lies”.
