The former Chairman of the Board of Directors of Hubinian and the President of the English Federation of Scottish Road Petri died at the age of 69.

He joined the Easter Road Council in 1996, becoming the Managing Director the following year and chairman in 2004.

He left the club in 2019 after American businessman Ron Gordon bought the majority share.

During his period on the Easter Road Road, the team reached five Scottish Cup finals, and won the 2016 Cup after a dramatic match against Rangers.

The club also won the League Cup in 2007.

Petrie was elected as SFA president in 2019 after serving with the association in various roles for more than 20 years.

He resigned from the role in 2020 on the basis of health, and he was formerly vice president of SFA during the era of Campbell August and Alan Macray, as well as serving the Board of Directors of the old Scottish League.
