Movie watchers on both sides of the ocean seem to think better about seeing Robbie Williams“the biography,”A better man“, during the opening weekend.
The glossy biopic, which revisits the fast, rocky life and career of the “Rock DJ” artist – despite Williams being portrayed as a CGI monkey – failed to woo fans, bringing in an estimated $10 million worldwide against an alleged budget of $110 million.

In the days and weeks leading up to the release of Williams’ The Better Man, critics hailed the project as one of the best biopics in recent memory.
Directed by Michael Gracey (“The Greatest Showman”) and with Williams himself narrating an exaggerated take on his life story, the film has been noted as being both innovative and entertaining, partly due to its human subject being presented as an anthropomorphic ape, (Williams has explained in several interviews The animal is often what it sees itself.
A great review of Better Man by Liz Shannon Miller, senior entertainment editor at Better Man. Score with soundrefers to the film as one that “(preserves) the autobiography of music”.

“Paddington’s approach to the protagonist immediately imbues the film with a cheeky energy, one that even newcomers to Williams’ story will find very relatable,” she wrote.

The highlight is “Better Man” which showcases one of Robbie Williams’ biggest hits with heightened energy
A prime example of the absurd yet poignant atmosphere of “Better Man” is found in a scene set around an early point in Williams’ long career.
After achieving a new influx of fame with Take That, the boy band that gave Williams his start, the group broke into a lively rendition of “Rock DJ,” one of the singer’s best-known songs, set on London’s famous Regent Street.
Although only one minute of the scene is available online, consequenceMiller says the entire sequence is easily one of the best cinematic performances of 2024.

Some say that Robbie Williams’ film “failed” in America because he is not known here

One common reason Williams’ “Better Man” fails to connect with American audiences is that the singer is just that Not famous Here as elsewhere.
On X, several users claimed they were not surprised to learn that the film grossed around $1 million in the US in its opening weekend.

It was allegedly Kat Black, a YouTube personality and entertainment commentator, who pushed for the announcement of Williams’ lack of American fame. In a Short video In a longer post on a separate topic, she responded to followers who criticized her for saying that America, as a whole, was unfamiliar with Williams.
“We don’t quite know who he is,” she specified via a text overlay. “I really thought Better Man was a movie about a monkey who becomes a pop star with music by Lin-Manuel Miranda!”

Air date window for ‘Better Man’ shared
Although the exact date is uncertain, reports indicate that the Williams-produced “Better Man” should stream on Paramount+ on or around February 11, 2025 (since the film is a Paramount release).
