Republican -controlled Senate in the United States voted to take President Donald Trump to the so -called “beautiful beautiful bill” in the next stage of the discussion, which makes it likely to pass in the coming days.
This procedure, Trump’s supreme goal, approved his first procedural obstacle in 51 to 49 votes on Saturday, with two Republican Senate members joining all Democrats in voting against it.
The result came several hours after negotiation, as Republican leaders and Vice President JD Vance sought to persuade an objector at the last minute in a series of closed negotiations.
Trump prompted his party to pass the bill and his office to sign the law by July 4, the day of the independence of the United States.
He was watching the vote from the Oval Office late at night, according to a senior White House official.
A single beautiful invoice work
Mike Hanna from Al -Jazeera, who was reported by Washington, DC, said that the “beautiful draft law” of 940 pages has been issued shortly before midnight on Friday, and Senate members are still trying to understand exactly what it means.
He said: “One of the clear things in the draft law is that it provides a batch of $ 150 billion for military spending. It also adds funding for collective deportation and building this border wall. Now, in order to obtain this money, what happened is that there are discounts to Medicare, as well as for the clean energy financing program.”
Hanna added: “The other issue is that there are 53 Republicans and 47 Democrats in the Senate. Now all Democrats oppose the draft law. This means that every single Republican vote will be counted.”
The procedural vote began on Saturday, which will start a discussion about Megabill, after hours of delay.
Then he remained open for more than three hours of stopping, as three members of the Republican Senate – Thom Tillis, Ron Johnson and Rand Paul – joined the Democrats to oppose the legislation.
Three others – Senator Rick Scott, Mike Lee and Sinthia Lomes – negotiated with Republican leaders at night in the hope of securing more spending discounts.
In the end, Senator Yiston Johnson flipped his vote to yes, leaving Paul and Tilis only opponents between Republicans.
The Democratic Leader of the Senate Chuck Schumer from New York said that the Republicans revealed the draft law “in the death of the night” and is rushing to end the draft law before the public knows exactly what is in it.
He immediately forced a full reading of the text in the Senate, which will take about 15 hours.
“Future generations will be installed with debt trillion. Debt is abstract, but what does it mean to ordinary Americans? He asked.
“Why are they doing the largest discounts in Medicaid in history? Now approaches a trillion dollars, only in Medicaid alone, all to reduce taxes for rich and private interests.”
Illon Musk renews criticism
If it is approved in the Senate, the draft law will return to the House of Representatives for approval, as the Republicans can only lose a handful of votes – and they face severe opposition from within their ranks.
Republicans are divided into medicaid discounts, which will threaten dozens of rural hospitals and deprive an estimated 8.6 million Americans of health care.
The spending plan will also respond to many tax incentives for renewable energy that was placed under Trump’s predecessor, Joe Biden.
Non -party analysts estimate that a copy of the tax reduction bill and Trump’s spending will add trillion to the debts of the US government, which is valued at $ 36.2 trillion. They also say that the bill will pave the way for a historical redistribution of wealth from the poorest of 10 percent of Americans to the richest.
The draft law is not popular through demographic, age and multiple groups, according to recent opinion polls.
On Saturday, billionaire Elon Musk, whose Trump had decreased this month because of his criticism of the draft law, once again criticized the legislation project.
The CEO of Tesla and Space X described the package as “completely crazy and destroyed.”
He wrote on X.
He later published that the bill would be “a political suicide of the Republican Party.”
