The Indian Reserve Bank (RBI) has announced that it will soon export new banknotes at a value of 20 rupees under the Mahatma GandHi series (New). These notes will bear the signature of the current RBI ruler Sanjay Malhotra.
The Central Bank explained that the design and features of the upcoming notes 20 rupees will remain identical with those currently in circulation under the Mahatma GandHi series (New). This includes the color scheme, dimensions, safety features and elalora cave on the back.

More importantly, RBI emphasized that all the previously released banknotes – regardless of the signing of the source ruler – will remain a legal tender and is completely valid for transactions. The transition to issuing new notes with the new ruler’s signing is a standard procedure after the change in the upper RBI leadership and does not affect the ability to use or the value of the current currency.
