Ramiz Raja mocks Babar Azam with ‘Karija yee drama’ remark during Pakistan’s first Test against South Africa

Former Pakistani cricketer Ramiz Raja brutally mocked the star batsman Babar Azam During the first test against South Africa at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. The incident occurred in Pakistan’s first innings on the first day (Sunday 12 October) when Babar was dismissed by field umpire Senoran Muthusamy off his bowling.

Babar returned to Pakistan’s squad after nearly two months. He struggled again in the first innings of the Test against South Africa in Lahore. The right-handed batsman made a good start but was eventually undone by Proteas pacer Simon Harmer, failing to make a noticeable impact.

Babar Azam came in at number four with Pakistan in a strong position at 163/2 against South Africa. On the first ball of the 49th over, batting was initially distributed by the umpire, with the fielders claiming the advantage.

Babar opted for a review, and the decision was overturned as the UltraEdge showed no contact between bat and ball, allowing him to continue his innings.

During the review, Ramiz Raja, who was on the commentary panel, stated that Babar would provide drama if he got out, and the clip caught the attention of the cricket community. He said: “You are out Hoga, Karega drama you are.”

Babar Azam failed to convert his good start into a big result

Babar Azam started his innings with elegant batting against the South African attack. After a good start, he began to slow down and take a more cautious approach, allowing the bowlers to regain control.

Simon Harmer delivered the ball intelligently. Babar tried an easy pass but missed completely, and the ball hit his pad. The on-field referee ruled not to disqualify him, giving Pakistan a temporary reprieve.

The visitors chose to review the decision, sending the call upstairs. The TV referee checked the delivery, and the UltraEdge was not detected. Babar was adjudged underweight, leaving him visibly stunned and disappointed as he returned to the pavilion.

Before Babar, there were only four Australians – Steve Smith, Marnus Labuschagne, Travis Head and Usman Khawaja – and three Englishmen. Joe Root, Ben Stokesand Zach Crowley – they crossed the 3,000-point mark at the World Trade Center.

Among Pakistani players, Mohammad Rizwan has crossed 2,000 runs in 37 matches, while Test captain Shan Masood has 1,663 runs in 28 matches.

Among the Asian batsmen, Indian skipper Shubman Gill is the closest to the feat with 2826 runs in 71 innings. Gill, who scored an unbeaten 129 in India’s ongoing second Test against West Indies in Delhi, is closing in on 3,000 runs at the WTC.
