Qualcomm strengthens the artificial intelligence portfolio with $ 2.4 billion in Alfuv’s deal

(Reuters) -Qualcomm, Chipmaker, agreed to obtain alphawave for about $ 2.4 billion on Monday, extending to the prosperous artificial intelligence data center market, where the shares of the British semiconductor company that rises more than 22 % send.

The alphawave, which designs semiconductor technology for data centers, is the latest British company captured in a market that suffers from low assessments and dwarf growth, as American buyers turn to companies at relatively low prices and Porsice is the best more attractive performance of the shares lists.

Qualcomm can help diversify in the data center market, as the largest smart phone chips are looking to reduce its dependence on industry.

Qualcomm, which is the Apple and Major Android players like Xiaomi among its customers, has doubled in providing food to industries such as data centers and personal computers where the iPhone maker increases to internal processors.

The company said: “The acquisition of Alphawave Semi aims to increase acceleration and provide the main assets to expand Qualcomm in data centers,” the company said.

Alphawave’s shareholders will receive 183 bens of the arrow – at a rate of less than 96 % to the closing price on March 31 directly before Qualcomm revealed its interest. The news of the deal sent the arrow more than 22 %. Qualcomm shares rose about 4 %.

Qualcomm also made two alternative offers for all the participation of Alphawave on Monday after the multiple date of the deadline of the UK acquisition committee. However, Alphawave plans to unanimously recommend to offer money to its shareholders, and considered it fair and reasonable.

Jeffrez analysts said that they do not expect the deal to meet any material organizational obstacles, after Alphouf has left its joint Chinese and Yigev project.

“AlPhawave has developed a high -speed wireless connection and calculated supplementary techniques for the energy -saving central treatment unit and the neurological treatment unit,” said Cristiano Amon, President and CEO of Qualcomm.

The acquisition is expected to be closed during the first quarter of the calendar of 2026.

Softbank, ARM, also sought to obtain Alphawave, but decided not to follow the acquisition, according to Reuters in April, citing sources.
