Speaking at the beginning of the talks, Putin praised the courage and championship of the North Korean soldiers who said he fought along with Russian forces in the relegation of Ukrainian incursion into the border area of ​​Russia in Kursk.

Kim said, in turn, that the cooperation between Moscow and Pyongyang “has been greatly strengthened” since the two countries signed a strategic partnership agreement in June 2024.

Kim said: “If there is anything I can do for you and the people of Russia, if there is something most to do, I will consider it a brotherly duty, and the commitment we definitely need, and we will be ready to do everything possible to help.”

South Korean officials estimate that North Korea has sent about 15,000 soldiers to Russia since last year, along with important military supplies, including artillery and KN-23 ballistic missiles, to support Moscow’s war effort in Ukraine.

Analysts say Pyongyang receives advanced Russian military technology in return, including satellite guidance systems that can enhance the missile program.

Putin Pyongyang visited in July 2024 for the first time in 24 years, as it signed a treaty on a “comprehensive strategic partnership” with Kim, who revived relations in the Cold War era between the two disabled countries. Kim was met by Putin three times.

North Korea only confirmed that it had deployed forces to support the Russian war in Ukraine in April and admitted that its soldiers were killed in the fighting.

He added: “I, our country and our army will take full responsibility for them and train them in an impressive manner that they are strong and brave fighters like their fathers.”
