Ruben Amorim has warned that Manchester United’s season will remain a “rollercoaster” ride as players learn to adapt to his system following a dramatic 3-1 win over Southampton.
Bottom of the Premier League, Southampton, were on the verge of a shock victory at Old Trafford on Thursday before Amad Diallo scored a stunning 12-minute hat-trick to turn the game on its head.
This has come after an uphill battle 2-2 draw with Liverpool Winning the FA Cup is a morale booster for Arsenal.
Amorim, who took over from the sacked Erik Ten Hag last November, had previously warned that “the storm will come” ahead of a series of six defeats in eight matches.

The 39-year-old Portuguese coach predicted more upsets after a sub-par display against the struggling Saints. Despite the victory, United, which hosts Brighton on Sunday, is still in 12th place in the English Premier League table.
“I think it will be difficult until the end of the season,” Amorim said. “It’s going to be a bit of a roller coaster. Then it depends on how much time you have to coach. We’re still in the (FA) Cup and we have games in the Europa League.
“Then it’s also important to focus on next Thursday (when Scottish giants Rangers visit Old Trafford) to win and try to get into the top eight.”
He added: “We went through seven training sessions together in 14 or 15 matches. It’s really difficult, but we have to keep going and try to win it. “Sometimes we play well, sometimes we play poorly.”

Amorim admitted that his team did not play well against Southampton and noted that several players were tired, including Manuel Ugarte, who scored an own goal at the end of the first half to give the visitors the lead.
“You (the media) are focusing on what I said about Ugarte,” he said. “Ugarte was tired because he did a great job against Liverpool.
“If you look at the game against Arsenal, Ugarte and Bruno (Fernandes) were probably the best players against Liverpool.
“They didn’t play against Newcastle. I think that happens with all players in the Premier League.”
Manchester United team news
Diogo Dalot returns from a one-match ban, but Mason Mount and Luke Shaw are out through injury.
The midfield may give Amorim pause for thought, with both Kobe Maino and Manuel Ugarte substituted against Southampton due to fatigue.
Brighton team news
James Milner, the former Manchester City midfielder, will miss the match due to injury. Ferdi Kadioglu is also sidelined with an injury, but Georginio Rutter could return to the starting line-up after scoring goals as a substitute at Ipswich.
Face to face
Brighton will become only the second team to win three consecutive away games in the Premier League against Manchester United if they secure all three points on Sunday.
The other side to do so is Manchester City, who have achieved the feat twice.
It has been a positive run overall for the Seagulls, who have won five of their last six matches against the Red Devils.
