Olivia Trusty, a Senate Republican aide, was chosen as the committee’s commissioner Federal Communications Commission (FCC)President-elect Trump announced on Truth Social Thursday afternoon that he has a Republican majority within the agency.
Trusty currently serves as a career staffer for the Senate Armed Services Committee. Before that, she was policy director for the Senate Commerce Committee, where she “fought tirelessly to grow the economy, enable innovation, and reignite the American Dream,” Trump wrote in the post.
The FCC will have a 2-2 split between Democrats and Republicans Until it is confirmed by the Senate.

“Olivia will work with our amazing new FCC Chairman, Brendan Carr, to cut regulations at a record pace, protect freedom of speech, and ensure every American has access to fast, affordable internet,” Trump wrote.
Carr was initially appointed to the commission in 2017 during Trump’s first term and continued to work at the agency under President Biden, Fox News Digital previously reported.
Trusty worked on the staffs of Sen. Roger Wicker, R-Mo., and Rep. Bob Latta, R-Ohio.

She served on the House Energy and Commerce Committee, focusing on manufacturing and trade as well as digital commerce and consumer protection.
Between graduating from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and earning her master’s degree from Georgetown University, Trusty was working in government relations. Consultant for Verizon and policy representative at Qwest Communications, according to LegiStorm.
Tom Reed, chief legal officer at Comcast, issued a… statement “We applaud President-elect Trump for this strong choice,” he said after the nomination.
