The World Luxury Fashion brand Brada recently criticized after being shown in the Kolhapuri-style at Milan Fashion Week without admitting its origins. In response, a team of Prada Kolhapur representatives visited to interact with local craftsmen and understand the traditional craftsmanship of Kolhapuri Chapals.
The visit aims to address the reverse reaction that arose after Brada referred to traditional shoes as leather clothes and not as Kolhapuri Chapals. Lalite Gandhi of the Maharashtra Trade Chamber was highlighted that this lack of confession was a mistake in ensuring that it was not repeated. Part of the Men’s Group in Spring/Summer 2026 Prada, a pair of Kolhapuri Chapals was priced at 1 Rs.
During the visit, Brada expressed its commitment to “responsible design practices, enhancing cultural participation, and opening a meaningful exchange with local Indian craftsmen.” The brand has also indicated plans to launch a “India-Lahapuri-insprespons” limited version, with the aim of bringing global markets to the sill of craftsmen in Collapor.
Brada, led by Paulo Tifron, director of the Technical Production and Production Department of men, met with various craftsmen including Shopham Satopot, who presented the detailed handicrafts involved in the manufacture of Collaporei Chaphals. The Prada team included six senior actors, including Tifron and Dianlli Contho, director of the patterns industry in the shoe department, Andrea Bolstei and Roberto Bulasterli.
The Maharashtra Chamber and other local bodies see this cooperation as a pivotal outcome of the Culporean Chapal manufacturer. Gandhi pointed out that “the state government is urged to take steps to protect the reputation and popularity of the Kullapore Kallapore.” He added that the controversy brought Kolhapuri Chappals to a global platform.
Bhupal Shete, a major figure in the Kolhapuri Chappal group, said that previous government initiatives helped display shoes internationally, enhancing demand. “With the help of Prada, the global markets will open to Kulporei Chapalus and the art will be preserved,” Shit noted.
There is expected to be a follow -up visit by the Brada business team in early August, with the aim of exploring more cooperation opportunities. “Brada’s controversy has helped to transfer Culporei Chapal to the World Theater,” Gandhi confirmed.
As part of their participation, Prada collected different samples and cut complete shoes, which intend to integrate traditional design elements into their future collections. This cooperation is expected to enhance Kolhapuri Chappals in the international fashion arenas.
