Popular billionaire Andrig Babis wins the parliamentary elections

Bloom businessman Andrig Babis won the parliamentary elections in the Czech Republic, although his populist party was less than the comprehensive majority, according to the initial results.

In current predictions, Ano received a little less than 35 % of the sounds, and it got 81 seats in the lower house 200 seats.

Babis – who held the position of Prime Minister from 2017 to 2021 – is expected to lead talks about the formation of a new coalition.

These elections did not ask any great surprises, but they leave many questions.

Few believe that the current coalition right will remain alive. Few had any doubt about the appearance of Babis in the first place. Few believe he will win enough seats to rule on his own.

All these predictions – carried out by every opinion poll over the past two years – have become through.

This is the easy part. But what comes after that?

Babis will start talks immediately-perhaps early tonight-with the right-wing right-wing parties who were able to pass a 5 % threshold: drivers of the anti-green deals for themselves, and the anti-immigrant and direct democracy party (SPD), led by the Czech environment novel Tomo Oukamura.

Babis appears to need an alliance with both to form the majority government.

Ano will have more than sections with car drivers. The two are already sitting in the European Parliament group itself-the “supportive of the sovereignty” of Europe, which Babis founded alongside Victor Urban and Herbert Kickl from Austria last year.

Ano shares the concerns of car drivers about the goals of the European Union emissions, and pledges to amend them or reject them directly.

Both parties are firmly opposed against Czech families that carry a greater financial burden on cleaner energy, and both oppose the European Union to sell new gasoline and diesel cars after 2035.

Relationships with SPD can be more fraught.

For the beginning, SPD fought these elections in an official alliance with a number of marginal parties in the far right, which means that they will have to obtain some of their seats. Okamura may not have full control over the deputies in its gathering – always a recipe for disasters in the coalition policy.

Babis also categorically excluded allowing a referendum on the membership of the European Union or NATO – the priority of a major policy of SPD.

Ano leader bent to the anti -Ukrainian discourse in the last days of the campaign, as the government was raising the right in the middle to give “Czech mothers something, and the Ukrainians everything.”

But Ocamover’s call to Ukrainian refugees is collectively deported to deaf ears.

Ultimately, Babis may decide the ruling alone, in a minority government driven by car drivers and SPD.
