The Vatican said after his inauguration bloc that Pope Liu XIV would meet Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelinski.

The new Catholic leader highlighted his concerns about the war in Ukraine in his prayers at the end of service, saying, “The martyr Ukraine is awaiting negotiations for a just and lasting peace in the end.”

The Pope spoke to a crowd of thousands in Saint Peter’s Square to warn of the marginalization of the poor and tyranny.

Zelinski, US Vice President JD Vance and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio was among the prominent figures in the attendees.

The Pope was seen shaking hands with Zelensky, as well as other characters.

His Mass used to criticize “hatred, violence, prejudice, fear of difference and the economic model that exploits the land resources and marginalizes the poorest.”

He also said that he would seek the ruling, “without being seduced at all to be an autocrat.”

Thousands of pilgrims stood in a sanctuary, where the Pope received the codes of the office, blessed people and issued a strong invitation to the unit.

Before the Mass, there were slogans from the crowd when the Pope appeared in the bobil, wandering in the Saint Peter’s Square and below across the Concillazione to the Tiber River and the back.

There was a strong feeling of excitement in the square. Michelle, from Germany, told the BBC that she “intentionally came to see the Pope.”

“I arrived yesterday in the morning and I will leave within a few hours, so I don’t have much time. It’s so crazy because there are many people. I wanted to see the Pope.”

Many of the tens of thousands who attended were Catholics, but tourists have also become part of the historical occasion.

“We are on vacation, but this is a great timing. We are here to see the opening mass of the Pope. It is very special. I am happy because we came early,” said Joe from Missouri in the United States.

He said he was “very proud” to see the first Pope from the United States. “This was a surprise.

Also in the crowd was Pia, from Chile, a professor of philosophy at the University of the Holy Cross in Rome. The BBC told that she felt that there was “new hope in the church.”

Pia said that among the first words of the Pope when he was elected “Leave peace with you”, the words of Jesus. Then he said, “Do not be afraid.”

“He knows what the world needs and the church,” she said. “

Follow the official opening of the block, with clothes per day – a white wool tape – placed on the shoulders of the Pope, and installed in place with three pins to represent the nails on the cross.

The Cardinal Luis Antonio was a penetration from the Philippines and then placed on the finger of the Pope’s episode, the papal symbol that bears the image of Saint Peter.

Then Pope Liu took the Bible Book to bless people.
