On Friday, Poland rejected a suggestion by Donald Trump that Russian drones into the airspace may be a mistake and a rare contradiction to the American president from one of the closest European allies in Washington.

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said on X.

Early on Wednesday, Poland shot down several drones in its air field with the support of military aircraft from its allies in NATO, the first time that a member of the Western Military Alliance has been known to fired bullets during the Russian war in Ukraine. Poland said that drones entered into the airspace for hours, and the drones were recovered in multiple areas.

While the American ambassador to NATO, Matthew Whitaker, said that the United States “will defend every inch of NATO lands” in a post on social media in hours that followed the incursion into drones, Trump presented a little general comment on this matter, and provides his own job on Wednesday, which expressed its amazement in this incident.

Poland says it has dropped several Russian drones in its airspace, the first time that the country of NATO has been launched directly to Russia since the invasion of Ukraine. On Thursday, Trump told the correspondents leaving the White House of New York City that Russia drones that landed in Poland “could be a mistake.”

“But regardless of, I am not happy with anything related to this entire situation. But we hope that it will end,” Trump said.

The White House has not announced any additional sanctions or measures against Russia, despite the multiple deadlines that Trump publicly announced the Kremlin to obtain the seriousness of the ceasefire in the war. Trump hosted Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska in mid -August, but the summit did not lead to more momentum for Ukraine and Russia to participate in direct talks.

Polish Foreign Minister Radoslao Sikorsky, who is visiting Kiev on Friday, responded to Trump’s words.

He said in a video posted on X.

Poland is among the closest allies of the United States in Europe. She praised Trump for his call for greater European military spending, and has in turn praised the Trump administration to perpetuate the largest share of its economy to defend any NATO ally. At the request of Poland, the United Nations Security Council will meet in New York to discuss the matter on Friday. NATO summoned a press conference later in the day with Secretary -General Mark Root, and his supreme military official, the leader of the supreme allies, Europe Alexos Greniciic, a US Air Force General.

European officials in Washington this week were hoping to coordinate sanctions on Russia with the American administration. The announcement of these sanctions was the most likely usual practice, but it has not happened since Trump returned to his post.

Putin did not comment on the accident. The Russian Ministry of Defense said that there are no plans to strike targets in Poland, although it did not deny that it had violated the Polish airspace.

On Thursday, France said it would deploy three combat aircraft in Rafale to help Poland to protect the airspace and Germany said it would enhance its commitment to the eastern border of NATO.

Russia, Belarus begins military exercises

Even before the drone incident, Tusk announced that Poland would close its borders with Belarus before the joint military training of this country with Russia, which started on Friday.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Thursday that “Zapad-2025” exercises were not intended for any other country.
