Police says that a newly elected mayor in West Germany had been stabbed and left seriously near her home.
Iris Stalzer, 57, a member of the Social Democratic Party in the center (SPD) and became the mayor of Herdecke in Northern Westphalia in September.
Local police say a large operation is underway in the small city. Investigators say that all ways are being explored, but it does not exclude a family relationship.
Counselor Friedrich Mirz condemned what he called “an ugly act”, adding: “We fear for the life of the elected mayor, the iris, and hope for complete recovery.”
The Democratic Democratic Party said its party members were shocked by the attack.
Officials say two adopted Stalzar – 17 -year -old, and a 15 -year -old son – have made an emergency call to the authorities in midday local time (11:00 GMT).
Children were later transferred to interrogation and criminal investigation. A correspondent at the scene noticed a teenager entering a police car.
Security sources said this summer had an incident on domestic violence in the family, which was recorded by the police.
