This comes as an update to Pew news impressive report It was released in November 2024, which did not include Bluesky in its numbers. The report focused on a relatively small group of 500 influencers, all of whom have more than 100,000 followers on at least one main platform and regularly published on current events.
For this Bluesky update, PEW looked at these influential themselves (unlike the accounts that might have found a large audience on Bluesky exclusively) and saw that in February, 43 % had a Bluesky account. A little more than half (51 %) of these accounts were created after the 2024 presidential elections.
There is a big gap between the influencers on the right and the left, with 69 % of the left -wing accounts (which were explicitly identified as liberal or democrats and expressed its support for Kamala Harris or Joe Biden before the presidential election) in jumping to Bluesky, while only 15 % of the conservative portfolio.
This movement was not necessarily at the X (previously Twitter) account. While the alliance of Malik X Elon Musk with President now Donald Trump seemed to be Pay new users to Bluesky82 % of PEW influencers still have an X account, slightly decreased from 85 % in the summer of 2025.
In other words, even if the left -wing influencers dip their toes in Bluesky, most of them (87 %) have not abandoned X. PEW also says that most of the influencers continue to publish regularly on X of Bluesky.
However, it appears that the Bluesky activity picks – the number of influencers on Bluesky who already spread from 54 % in the first week of January to 66 % in the last week of March.
