The border crossing was opened in Rafah for the first time in nearly nine months to allow Palestinian sick and wounded patients in Gaza to travel to Egypt for medical treatment.

The Ministry of Health in Gaza said on Saturday that a group of 50 patients is scheduled to cross his Rafah to reach Egypt.

The Egyptian television showed a Palestinian Red Cross ambulance to reach the transit portal, and many children took out cash and were transferred to ambulances on the Egyptian side.

The reopening of the RAFAH crossing is a major penetration that strengthens the ceasefire deal on Israel and Hamas, which it agreed earlier this month.

Israel agreed to reopen the crossing after Hamas released the last live prisoner in Gaza.
