Palestinian officials say he says

Negotiations between Israel and Hamas in Qatar are in a new stop in Gaza and the hostage of the hostage to the brink of collapse, according to Palestinian officials who are aware of the details of the discussions.

The mediators transferred dozens of verbal and written messages between the Hamas delegation and the Israeli delegation, which included military officials, security and politicians.

But on Friday night, Palestinian officials familiar with the BBC said that they were on the verge of collapse, with the two sides dividing in many controversial issues.

They said that the latest discussions focused on two of these issues: the mechanism of providing humanitarian aid in Gaza and the extent of Israeli military withdrawal.

Hamas insisted that humanitarian aid should enter Gaza and be distributed through United Nations agencies and international relief organizations.

Israel, on the other hand, is paid to distribute aid through the controversial mechanism of the United States -backed by the Gaza Humanitarian Corporation (GHF).

According to mediators participating in this process, there was some limited progress in bridging the gap on this issue. However, no official agreement has been reached.

The second main point of adhesion is the extent of Israeli withdrawal.

During the fifth round of the talks, the Israeli negotiators were said to have delivered the brokers a written message stating that Israel will maintain a limited “buffer zone” inside Gaza ranges between 1 km and 1.5 km (0.6-0.9 miles).

Hamas, according to a Palestinian official, attended at least two rounds of talks, he looked at this proposal as a possible settling point for the settlement.

However, when Hamas asked and received a map that defines the proposed clouds of Israel, the document contradicts the previous message, and showed much deeper military positions. Hamas officials saw that the map is a bad maneuvering by Israel, which leads to confidence corrosion between the two sides.

Palestinian officials accused the Israeli delegation of intentionally stopping to create a positive diplomatic background to visit the recent Israeli Prime Minister of Washington.

“They were never serious about these talks,” one of the prominent Palestinian negotiators told the BBC. “They used these tours to buy time and conclude a wrong picture of progress.”

The official also claimed that Israel was following a long -term strategy for forced displacement under the guise of humanitarian planning.

He claimed that the plan of Israeli Defense Minister, Israel Katz, to transfer the Palestinians to a “human city” in his shelf was part of a wider effort to transfer them permanently.

“The goal of the concentration of civilians near the Egyptian border is to pave the way to expel them either through a well -being crossing to Egypt or outside the sea,” the official said.

On Monday, Katz was briefed on Israeli correspondents that he had instructed the army to prepare a plan for a new camp in a softening that would initially include about 600,000 Palestinians – and eventually 2.1 million people.

According to the plan, the Palestinians will be examined by the Israeli forces before they are allowed to enter and are not allowed to leave.

Critics, at the local and international levels, condemned the proposal, with human rights groups, academics and lawyers who call it a plan for the “concentration camp”.

With the talks at a critical turn, the Palestinian side calls on the United States to intervene more strongly and pressure Israel to make meaningful concessions.

Without this intervention, brokers warn that Doha negotiations may completely collapse.

This is a scenario that would complicate regional efforts to reach a ceasefire and avoid a broader humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza.

Diplomats in Doha say there is still a narrow window for settlement, but the situation is still fragile.

The Israeli army launched a campaign in Gaza in response to the Hamas -led attack on southern Israel on October 7, 2023, where about 1,200 people were killed and 251 others took hostage.

At least 57,823 people have been killed in Gaza since then, according to the Hamas Ministry of Health in the region.
