The mayor of the city said at least one person was killed after an explosion near a reproductive health facility in Palm Springs, California.
The Palm Springs Police Commander Andy Mills said on Friday “it seems that it had made intentional violence” and that many buildings were damaged, some of them severely.
“There was one death, the identity of the person is unknown.”
Reuters news agency reported that the city’s mayor, Ron Dahraiti, said that the bomb was either in or near a car parked outside the clinic when it exploded.
Palm Springs, Paul Alvarado, said no suspect had been identified.
The authorities said that the explosion occurred on Saturday at about 11 am local time (18:00 GMT) near the north of Indian Canyon Drive and East Takinvie. The police urged the residents to avoid the area, as the firefighters and investigators secured the scene.
Federal agents have been sent from the FBI, Alcohol, tobacco, firearms and explosives to support the local investigation, which is still in its early stages.
The explosion has destroyed the American reproductive centers, a fertility clinic managed by Dr. Maher Abdullah. While the area of his office had suffered from damage, fertilization laboratory was not changed in the laboratory (IVF) and its stored fetuses.
Abdullah said: “I have no idea what happened.” “Thank God today, it happened for a day that we do not have sick.”
He added that all of his employees were safe and calculated.
Resident, 37, from Santa Monica, said he was inside the cannabis clinic when he felt the building was shaken.
Tabrizi said: “The building just shook, and we go outside and there is a huge cloud smoke.” “The crazy explosion. I felt that a bomb came out … We went up to the scene, and we saw human remains.”
Palm Springs, a wealthy desert city known for its luxurious resorts and the history of celebrities, is located about 100 miles (161 km) east of Los Angeles.
