Local police say at least one person died and hit nine others after fire and fire in the Mormon Church in Michigan.
The officials said that the suspect drove his car to the Church of Jesus Christ for the last days of Grand Blanc, a town of 60 miles (96 km) northwest of Detroit, on Sunday morning and opened fire.
They added that the suspect, a 40 -year -old man, “intentionally” set fire to the church. Since then, the fire has been contained, but officials have said they are afraid that they would find additional victims when it is safe to enter the building.
Police in the town of Blanc at Grand Blanc, adding that there was no other threat to the public.
The officers said that nine wounds of gunshots were in a stable condition in the hospital.
The suspect has not been named after the shooting. Investigators said they were looking for a motivation and a biopsy in search of man’s property and records on mobile phones.
Grand Blanc Police added that 100 FBI agents have been published for assistance in the investigation.
The FBI director, Cash Patel, confirmed in a statement that federal agents are helping local authorities. He described the incident as “a cowardly act and a crime.”
US Public Prosecutor Bam Bondi said in a post about X that she had received a briefing on “what appears to be a terrible shooting” in the church.
“Such violence in the place of worship is scary and frightening,” Bondi said. “Please join me in prayer for the victims of this terrible tragedy.”
In a separate statement, the governor of Michigan Gretchin said: “Violence anywhere, especially in the place of worship, is unacceptable,” adding that she was watching the situation.
