“On that day, I did not feel like a leader”: Mumbai CEO remembers the launch of 25 employees in one day

For many professionals, a job loss is among the most difficult days of their lives. But for those asked to provide news, the memory can be as heavy. The CEO and leadership coach in Mumbai Sambark Sashdiva recently participated in such an experience on LinkedIn, describing it as one of the “darkest days” in his career in companies.

He stated that he was required to dismiss 25 people in one day, one by one, during a traditional organizational exercise.

The giving text program was cold and direct: “Please send your identity card and the laptop. Human resources will be contacted for procedures. Access to your systems will be disabled soon.” Instructions were directed to him not to soften the strike, not even to say “I am sorry”, because it can be considered accepting the blame.

Behind every end, life suddenly – a single mother, a father of two children, and employees who just got a loan, and a young woman who moved cities to this role. One of the workers told him: “Sir, you rented me. I was here, so I stayed. Today, you are asking me to go, so I will go.”

SACHDEVA admitted the moment I stayed with him for a long time. “On that day, I did not feel like a leader. I felt a number.

On that day, Sachdeva added: “The life of companies teach us flexibility. But you must also teach us sympathy. Because behind every role it is a life. And behind each end is a story that deserves dignity.”
