David Higgins, director of Joseph Parker, says there was no connection from the WLKSANDR USYK to start the WBO battle negotiations.
Usyk has not been connected
It is doubtful if the USYK (24-0, 15 KOS) will choose to defend the WBO title against Parker. The chances of the battle that takes place with the report that Turki Al -Sheikh is not interested in supporting the battle. Without financing, the chances of USK approval to confront Parker are minimal. It will be a strange step if he chooses to fight it because it does not pay.
Parker (36-3, 24 KOS) got the mandatory place to challenge the USYK by stopping Martin Bakole in the second round last February. Last month, WBO OLKSANDR ordered the start of talks with Parker on July 24, giving them 30 days to negotiate a deal.
“The last time I spoke to Frank Warren, there was no participation. You don’t judge anything inside or outside, but I believe that USyk was now participating in discussion or negotiations if he wanted to keep him and defend his global heavyweight titles,” said David Higgins. Sky Sports News.
Usyk may be stripped
Parker and Heganes should look at the bright side. Usyk is likely to be stripped soon if he chooses to not fight Parker. Then the WBO Parker and the highest rival are likely to ask for the vacant belt. That will be one of these three:
- Moses will bite
- Filip hrgovic
- Zhilei Zhang
It is not perfect for Parker to fight one of these men to a WBO belt, but at least he will get a chance. After all, isn’t the title what Parker cares about? If it is just money, he must go in another direction, as there are no chances here.
Respect for a merit -based boxing
“I hope that the merit -based system will be respected and that the man who has sincerely won a global heavyweight title is allowed to shoot this title, because it was obtained in the difficult way, the old way, with successive victories over the huge opposition.”
