A university in Nigeria sparked anger after it became a viral video showing that the students who were not touched to see if they were wearing bras before participating in the exam.

In the shots, employees at the University of Oabisi Onabango were seen in the southwestern state of Ojun, touching some of the boxes of some students during their queue to enter the examination hall.

The university has not yet commented on the video, but the leader of a student defended the policy of the chest of anchoring bras as part of the law of the establishment of the institution that aims to preserve a “environment free of distraction.”

However, he acknowledged that other ways to enforce the policy that critics have condemned to be ancient, sexual and semi -sexual assault is needed.

A senior human rights group at the BBC Human Rights Group told students that they can sue the university for violating their rights.

Haruna Igi said: “The unjustified touches on another person are a violation and can lead to a legal action. The university is wrong in adopting this method to reduce unqualified clothes.”

He told the student who did not want to appoint the BBC that the university imposed a strict moral law, although it was not a religious institution.

She said that their clothes were always examined.

In response to the screaming, the President of the University Student Union, Muzz Olatuunji, said to X that the university promoted, “The dress policy is aimed at maintaining a respectable and distraction environment, and encouraging students to wear modest clothes and is in line with the values ​​of the institution.”

He added that this policy was not new, and that the union “participated in the institution to explore alternative methods to address inappropriate clothes, with a focus on respected and generous interactions between students and employees.”

It also published the dress law, which included a ban on any clothes “capable of having the same sex or in exchange for lust after the student in an inappropriate manner.”

The university was founded in 1982 as the Uzun State University when Alaabisi Onabango was the governor of the state. His name was changed after him in 2001.
