Amid a threat to the high American definitions, the Swiss drug giant Novartis Its president said in an interview published on Saturday that the search for ways to enable Americans to pay less in exchange for their medicines.

Vasant Narasimhan Swiss daily NEUE Zurcher Zeitung (NZZ) told his company “working to eliminate the price gap between the United States and other industrial countries.”

“We are working with the government and are trying to find constructive solutions so that the Americans pay less for their medicines,” he told the newspaper “Swiss Daily”.

While pharmaceutical products have been rescued away from the definitions that Washington slapped on its trading partners, US President Donald Trump threatened to beat the entire sector with definitions of up to 250 percent if the prices of medicines did not decrease.

Narasimhan suggested that it makes sense to reduce American prices.

“It is the fact that American patients are paying the price of a large part of the innovations,” he admitted NZZ, and insisted that “countries outside the United States will have to contribute to a greater share in the future.”

Meanwhile, pharmaceutical companies face massive pressure from the Trump administration to transfer production to the United States.

Novartis has already announced in April that it plans to invest $ 23 billion in the United States over the past five years.

He said that the goal is to “manufacture the most important products for the American market locally,” adding that the matter “may take from three to four years to get there.”

But he estimated that the company could “make major transformations during the next two years”, including the implementation of some final packaging in the United States.

He said that these efforts should allow Novartis to overcome the situation if medications are exposed to the same definitions that Washington has already slapped on other exports from European countries as they have most of their production.

Washington is currently imposing taxes on imports from the European Union by 15 percent and Switzerland by 39 percent.

Narasimhan said that the rapid expansion of Novartis “should allow us to completely mitigate any tariff.”

He admitted that the company is “more concerned about the customs tariff for the entire industry.”

Narasimham said that he is not concerned about finding enough workers for the new US Novartis factories, expecting that investment pledges in the huge pharmaceutical industry will enhance the American education system to direct more specialists.

He added that many of the pharmaceutical factory operations were “fully automated”.

He said: “We only need a total of 1000 to 1500 additional workers to operate our planned new factories in the United States.”

“This can be controlled.”
