The South Korean army says North Korea has begun to remove some loudspeakers used to broadcast across the border between the two countries.

North Korea’s move seems to be a positive reaction to the initiatives of the newly -elect South Korean President Lee Jay Meong, Those who carried a campaign to improve relations between the Koreans.

South Korea dismantled some of its loudspeakers earlier this week. I stopped broadcasting along the descending area shortly after I took office in June – which led to a similar response from its neighbor.

South Korean broadcasts often included K-POP songs and news reports while the north played a worrying noise, such as wow animals.

In a statement on Saturday, the South Korean army said it “discovered the North Korean forces to dismantle propaganda speakers in some parts along the confrontation line this morning.”

He added: “The confirmation of whether the devices have been removed in all regions, and the army will continue to monitor related activities.”

The broadcasting broadcast was suspended on previous occasions. But after a six -year stop, they resumed in June 2024 in response to the Pyongyang campaign to send the garbage -filled balloons to the south.

Residents who live along the border complained that their lives have been subjected to noise coming from both sides, and sometimes in the middle of the night.

Seoul claimed that broadcasts can be heard up to 10 kilometers (six miles) across the day to 24 km (15 miles) at night.

But speaking after South Korea suspended its broadcast in June, organizations that defend the human rights improvement of North Koreans criticized this step.

Relations between North Korea and South Korea deteriorated under the leadership of President Yun Suk Yol, who was more honest towards Pyongyang.

Yun was isolated and removed from his position For a short position of South Korea in December, noting the assumed threats of the anti -state forces and sympathizers of North Korea.

The South’s reunification has not always been a key, albeit increasingly unrealistic, part of the ideology of the North from the beginning of the state – until its current leader, Kim Jong Un, gave up the idea in 2024.

Both countries are still in war technically since the end of the Korean war in 1953 without a peace treaty.
