In a frank conversation with Harper’s Bazaar Posted on October 9, Kidman revealed that her greatest gift of getting older is learning how to face challenges with calm and courage.

“The best part is the experiences you have accumulated,” the 58-year-old said. “You say, ‘Oh, I’ve been here before. I actually know how to handle this now.'” Or, “I may not have been in this place, but I’ve been through something similar to this, and I know I’ll get through it.”

The “Practical Magic” star added that no matter how dark things get, she has learned to trust that there is always a way forward.

“There’s something to knowing that no matter how painful or difficult or how devastating something is, there’s a way out of it,” she said, in a quiet reference to her ongoing divorce from Urban.

While Kidman is known for her grace under pressure, she hasn’t been shy about admitting the amount of pain that comes with life’s toughest moments.

“You have to feel it,” she shared. “You won’t be able to numb it. You’ll have to feel it, and it will feel insurmountable at times. You’ll feel like you’re broken, but if you move gently and slowly — and it may take a long time — it will pass.”

Kidman proved that when she decided to file for divorce on September 30 after trying to save her marriage.

Sources revealed that the couple has been living separately since early summer, but they are still committed to co-parenting their children.

Through it all, Kidman says her biggest motivation to stay strong comes from being a mother.

She shares two daughters, Sunday Rose and Faith Margaret, with Urban and two older children, Bella and Connor, from her marriage to Tom Cruise.

In her divorce filing, Kidman is listed as the “primary resident parent,” meaning her daughters will spend 306 days a year with her, while they will remain with Urban for 59 days.
