New Jersey Democratic gubernatorial candidate Mikie Sherrill is facing criticism after a businessman linked to the Chinese Communist Party made multiple donations totaling tens of thousands of dollars to her campaign.

Pin Ni, founder of Wanxiang America Corporation, donated $60,000 to the One Giant Leap super PAC to support Sherrill’s campaign in the form of two checks, in addition to giving a maximum of $5,800 per person directly to Sherrill’s campaign this summer, according to records reviewed by Fox News Digital.

Political campaigns in the United States are only permitted to accept money from US citizens or legal permanent residents, and in addition to the lack of clarity on Ben’s status, questions have been raised about the ethics of accepting money from individuals linked to the Chinese Communist Party.

“The donor, Pin Ni, has a long history of aiding the Chinese Communist Party’s political warfare and influence operations on the United States, and generally conforming to and executing our party’s orders,” Michael Lucci, founder and CEO of State Armor, told the New York Post, adding that taking money from Ni is a “disqualification.”

The Wanxiang Group posthumously awarded the company’s founder, Lu Guanqiu, the title of “National Distinguished Member of the Communist Party” in Press release 2021 He praised Guanqiu for “pursuing communism as an example and lifelong practice.” The press release also said that Bin Ni’s late father-in-law, Guanqiu, “always listened to the (Chinese Communist) Party and followed the Party.” Fox News Digital Review found Earlier this year.

The press release continued, citing Chinese President Xi Jinping’s praise of Guanqiu, saying that he “is in line with the Party Central Committee. He always actively does what our Party committees and governments at all levels call for.”

The founder’s biography on Wanxiang’s website says he was elected as the 13th and 14th representatives of the Chinese Communist Party, and as a delegate to the 9th, 10th and 11th National People’s Congress, the highest levels in the CCP hierarchy.

Fox News Digital reached out to Sherrill’s campaign to ask if the money would be returned.

Fox News Digital also reached out to Pin Ni but did not immediately receive a response.

Sherrill isn’t the only Democrat running for governor in November to face questions about donations from Pin Ni.

Virginia Democratic gubernatorial candidate Abigail Spanberger received $50,000 from Chinese Communist Party-linked businessman in two $25,000 installments in April and May, Fox News Digital I mentioned previously.

The donations drew criticism from Spanberger’s Republican opponent, Virginia Governor Winsome Earl Sears.

“Getting $50,000 from someone with clear ties to the Chinese Communist Party tells us everything we need to know,” her campaign spokesman said at the time. “You can’t claim to be facing external threats while taking money from someone celebrated by the Chinese Communist Party.”

“Virginians know that Abigail Spanberger has a clear record of standing up for America’s national security, achieving results for Virginia families across party lines, and never backing down from keeping the American people safe,” a Spanberger campaign spokesperson said.

“Her campaign will remain focused on what Virginians care most about, keeping our communities safe, cutting costs, protecting Virginia jobs, and making sure Virginia’s public schools are the best in America,” the spokesperson added.
