with Victor Wimbanyama Healthy again, some NBA insiders expect the San Antonio Spurs to at least compete in the play-in championship. Bleacher Report had the record at 42-40 for Wembanyama and Co. ESPN gave them a 49.5% chance of making the playoffs a month before training camp began.

While the outlook is positive, NBA analyst John Hollinger has his doubts after what he believes are “confusing” moves by the Spurs. On the “Zach Lowe Show” on Tuesday, Hollinger shared his thoughts on the Wembanyama-led team:

(13:30 mark)

“As great as Victor (Wimbanyama) is, there’s no player who makes you gossip like Victor does, but they don’t really glorify him. There’s kind of weak jumps thrown in. The whole thing with guards like Castle, Harper and Fox is interesting. The roster looks kind of a mess, and there’s not a lot of shooting. … What are they?”

Hollinger said he was disappointed De’Aaron FoxAdd as partner Victor Wembanyama. The former Memphis Grizzlies vice president of basketball operations added that Fox quickly settled into the corner spots last season. The analyst wondered if that would improve after a full training camp and preseason.

Hollinger was not the first to express such concerns, especially since Tottenham have not played a meaningful match yet. Only time will tell if Stephon Cassel, Dylan Harper and Fox, all inconsistent and ineffective shooters, will get the best out of Wimpy.

Victor Wimpanyama still has not played with Tottenham’s three goalkeepers

Questions about how De’Aaron Fox, Stephon Cassel and Dylan Harper fit together around Victor Wimpanyama continue to haunt the group. San Antonio Spurs. After two preseason games, all four were not on the field at the same time.

Fox, who said a week ago that he was healthy to play, is recovering from a hamstring injury. Dylan Harper may not play any preseason games after undergoing left thumb surgery in September. Cassel, who injured his leg during training camp, is said to be the closest to returning.

The Spurs have experimented with Victor Wimpanyama handling point guard duties without the team’s three point guards. In the 119-88 win over the Guangzhou Long Lions on Monday, the 7-foot-5 midfielder dished out seven assists. Two nights later, he scored a team-high five goals against the Miami Heat.

While doubts surround the Spurs, the future is bright for a team that owns the only alien in the NBA.
