The police investigate whether the explosion in northern Munich is linked to the famous beer festival.

Local officials in the German city said the October Ears, the famous beer festival in Munich, will remain closed to most of Wednesday after a security intimidation linked to a fatal explosion elsewhere in the city.

Police said that the festival lands will remain closed until at least 5 pm (15:00 GMT), as investigators determine whether the explosion in a residential building in North Munich is linked to the October seat.

The explosion occurred in the Lercinao area in Munich after a man planted explosives in his parents ’house, the German newspaper Bild. A person was killed at the scene, another missing but it is not believed to be in danger. Police said that special forces had been deployed to defuse the Boby traps that were discovered inside the building.

“We are currently investigating all possibilities. Potential links are examined on other sites in Munich, including Teresinois (the location of the October Festival),” said the Munich police statement, which was martyred by Reuters news agency. “For this reason, the opening of the festival’s lands was delayed.”

City officials confirmed on the official X account that the searches are continuing in the festival’s lands and ordered the workers to leave the area.

The October Festival also confirmed on its website that it will remain closed until 5 pm because of the “threat of bombs” and said that a decision will be taken on how to follow up on Wednesday afternoon.

The October Festival started this year on September 20 and ends on October 5. Usually, the largest beer festival in the world attracts up to six million visitors.
