Tesla’s sales in France decreased by 59 percent in April, where more than the bad news of the electric vehicle operated by Elon Musk, billionaire advisor to US President Donald Trump.
The French Automobile Authority PFA, which compared registration numbers from April with the same month last year, said that since the beginning of 2025, there have been 7556 Tesla records in France, 44 percent less than the same period in 2024.
The diving in the third largest car market in the European Union follows the data of the first quarter of the European Automobile Manufacturers Association (ACEA), which showed that Tesla sales decreased by 45 percent across the bloc.
Analysts say the prominent role of Musk near Trump is a potentially low sales of Tesla in Europe.
Musk has become known for its victory over American federal agencies and programs, including those for external aid – and twice a gesture in the Trump inauguration gathering, historians said it seems to be a Nazi greeting.
The billionaire said that he is planning to retract his role as an unofficial president of Trump’s “Ministry of State efficiency”, to focus more on Tesla.
The Wall Street Journal reported on Wednesday that the Tesla Board of Directors started the procedures several weeks ago to find a successor to Moussa as CEO.
The decrease in Tesla sales in France came against the background of stagnant electric vehicle sales in April.
Total car sales reduced 5.64 percent, with a total of 139,000 registrations.
“We are at a worrying level in the market, which is very low compared to the pre -period,” said PFA president, Nicholas Le Betot.
He attributed the decrease in the “economic uncertainty” of the French buyers.
“Everything that enlarges due to the uncertainty associated with the commercial war that Trump brought to all countries,” he said with his American tariff.
PFA said that for the total car sales in April, the American Stelantis Group that made Jeep, Peugeot, Fiat and MASERATI cars a 12 percent decrease.
Renault sales increased by 2 percent, and Volkswagen records decreased by 8.5 percent.
