Singer and songwriter Paris Jackson Celebrates a milestone in your sobriety journey.

The 26-year-old musician and model took to social media on Tuesday to celebrate five years of being free from drugs and alcohol. It is widely viewed as “Michael Jackson“Daughter,” Paris’s adorable goal reinforces her true identity without having to link it to her famous family.

Posting on her Instagram, Jackson shared a collection of photos and videos from her past while paying tribute to who she is today with a touching caption.

“Today marks 5 years of fasting and sobriety from all drugs and alcohol. “To say I am grateful would be a poor euphemism,” she wrote, “(because) gratitude barely scratches the surface. And because I am sober, I will smile today.”

In the montage, which plays to Past Lives’ song “Don’t Wake Me Up I’m Not Dreaming,” several clips show the young artist drinking and smoking with friends. At several points, Jackson appears to cry as he continues his unhealthy spiral into drug use.

The visual then transitions to shots of Jackson holding several keychains and coins from her drug recovery, indicating her progressive accomplishments in becoming and remaining sober.

As the video continues, we see a happier Jackson as she dances with friends and spends time with her fiancé, music producer Justin Long, all while living a sober, clear-headed life.

In her own words, Jackson notes how grateful she is to experience life’s natural happiness — even when she’s at her lowest point.

“I get to make music. I feel the joy of loving my dogs and cats,” she explains.

“I get to feel heartbreak in all its glory. I get to grieve. I can laugh. I get to dance. I get confidence. I feel the sun on my skin and it’s warm,” Jackson continues, adding, “I’ve found that life goes on regardless of whether I’m sober or No, but today, I have to show it.”

The star then concludes her post with a description of the reel — “a little snapshot of what was possible because of my sobriety.”

“Oh my God, I can’t believe I almost missed everything,” she confirms.

In a Rolling Stone In a 2017 interview, Jackson bravely spoke about the beginning of her addiction to alcohol and drugs, which she says began at the age of 15. However, the pain that led to her addiction began much earlier – when she lost her star father at the age of 11.

“They always say, ‘Time heals,’ but it’s really not. You just get used to it. I live life with the mindset of, ‘Okay, I lost the only thing that was important to me,'” Jackson told the music outlet.

By the way, Paris’s older brother, Prince Michael Jackson, noted that his sister is very similar to the “Heal the World” singer internally.

“The only thing different is her age and gender,” he told RS. “(She’s like him) in all of her strengths, and in almost all of her weaknesses as well. She’s very emotional. She’s so emotional that she can let emotion cloud her judgment.

By the age of 15, Jackson, who was clinically depressed and self-medicating with drugs and alcohol, attempted to end her life.

“It was just self-loathing, low self-esteem, thinking I couldn’t do anything right, (and) not thinking I deserved to live anymore,” she explained of her choice to swallow 20 Motrin pills and slit her wrists. .

Jackson was subsequently hospitalized and then transferred to a residential treatment program after it was discovered it was not her first attempt.

“(They had) a three-strikes rule,” the young woman shared. “It’s only been released to the public once.”

In happier life news, Jackson recently revealed that she is engaged to fellow music maker Justin Long after two years of dating.

In a sweet Instagram post to celebrate Long’s birthday in December, the bride shared several photos of herself with Long, including when he got down on one knee and asked for her hand in marriage.

“Happy Birthday, sweet Blue,” she wrote. “Life with you these last few years has been an indescribable whirlwind, and I couldn’t dream of a more perfect person for me to do everything with. Thank you for letting me be yours. I love you.”

Long is known for working with 5 Seconds of Summer, Grace Potter and other musical acts — including Jackson herself on 2022’s “The Lost EP.”

Having been raised by a black father from a prominent black family, the white-looking Jackson has always claimed to be a black woman — despite critics who say otherwise.

In a sit-in in 2017 with The Straits TimesJackson explained that she was constantly dealing with questions regarding her racial identity, but she would never back away from who she was.

“I consider myself black. (My father) would look me in the eye, point his finger at me and say, ‘You’re black.'” “Be proud of your roots,” Jackson shared. “And I’d be like, ‘Well, he’s my father, why would he lie to me?’
