Maya Vimore may not have been a well -known name, but her pro -event speech during the starting ceremony made her talk about the city. Her video, wearing a red Kefiyeh on the graduation robe and reminding everyone in the absence of universities in Gaza, has become a viral.
Now, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), which takes a strict position, is prevented from attending the graduation ceremony.
VEMURI, head of the MIT Class for 2025, moved to the platform as decided for her speech. While many praised her emotional words, many believed that it was a political ambush, as she kidnapped the event and insulted every pro -Israel student. Many of the closest house criticized her because of her talk about Palestine, not a bridle.
After her speech, the head of the Massachusetts Institute moved to the residence and said: “There is a time and place to express yourselves and you will have many years to do this. Let’s talk today about our graduates.”
Meanwhile, Fimori said that the Supreme University leadership told her that it was not allowed to attend the graduation ceremony, “I do not see a need for me to walk through the stage of a complicit institution in this genocide … However, I am disappointed that the officials of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology have exceeded their roles significantly. VEMURI criticized the Massachusetts Technology Institute for its relationships with Israel.
The university also said they were standing alongside the punishment that met with VEMURI. “The Massachusetts Institute of Technology supports the expression of freedom of expression, but it stands alongside his decision, which was a response to the individual intentionally, bitterly and repeated the starting organizers and leading a protest from the theater,” the school spokesman said in a statement.
A spokesman for the Massachusetts Institute of Technology told CNN that the speech was not the line presented by the spokesman.
VEMURI grew up in Georgia, and was a dual specialization in calculation, perception and linguistics. The university said that she will get her certificate.
