Mbeumo penalty and Shadi’s goal give the Bees bliss at Selhurst

Brian Mbeumo converted the penalty kick in the 66th minute and Kevin Shadi’s header 10 minutes before the end of normal time. Brentford Their second successive Premier League win away from home and condemned Crystal Palace to their first defeat in seven matches in all competitions.

Striker Mbeumo appeared to have missed a penalty for the first time ever with the 10th spot-kick of his career when his first effort hit the post to the delight of the home fans at Selhurst Park.

Palace defender Mark Guehi He was adjudged to have encroached inside the penalty area when the kick was taken, giving Mbeumo an opportunity which the Cameroon international took advantage of to score from the rebound, placing his goal in the opposite direction of the first goal.

Sheedy’s emphatic header from Mikkel Damsgaard’s eighth assist of the season appeared to give the visitors breathing room, although Premier League debutant Romain Essie’s close-range strike five minutes from time gave Crystal hope.

The result is a move for 11th-placed Brentford Four points behind Palacewhich lies directly below them and is one point ahead of Manchester United and West Ham.
