Arsenal received a heavy blow after confirming that its captain, Martin Odegaard, will be sidelined for at least six weeks due to a knee injury.

The influential midfielder suffered a medial collateral ligament (MCL) injury in the recent win over West Ham, and is now expected to miss at least seven crucial matches in all competitions before the next international break.

The injury, which does not require surgery, rules out the Norwegian player from several major matches.

In the English Premier League, he will miss the matches against Fulham, Crystal Palace, Burnley and Sunderland.

Most worrying are the Champions League matches, where Odegaard will miss the match against Atletico Madrid and the trip to Slavia Prague. He will also miss the League Cup match against Brighton.

The closest target to his return is the highly anticipated north London derby against Tottenham on November 23, adding an intense layer of pressure to the recovery timeline.

Odegaard’s injury is an opportunity for Eberechi Eze to influence from the number 10

The absence of their main creative force now presents a huge opportunity for summer signing Eberechi Eze to cement his place in the starting XI.

Having inherited the club’s number 10 shirt this season, Eze is the natural replacement for Odegaard in the attacking midfield position.

Eze, who can also operate on the left flank, has shown glimpses of his tremendous dribbling and flair since his arrival, but is often rotated.

With the Norwegian out for an extended period, the former Crystal Palace player will have the opportunity to play in a position where he can be more effective.

The position you played Appearances Objectives Helps
Attacking midfield 147 35 22
Left wing 53 10 8
Central midfield 44 10 3
Left midfield 32 8 5
Right wing 11 3 1

Eberechi Eze’s career statistics show his goal contributions across different positions across Transfer market

The run of fixtures allows Eze to make a long-term claim to the No.10 role and prove to Mikel Arteta that he can be a consistently crucial figure for the Gunners during this critical period.
