Mark Guehi is not focused on Liverpool’s move anymore

Crystal Palace defender Mark Guehi was heavily linked with a move to Liverpool during the summer transfer window.

The move eventually fell apart after Crystal Palace failed to sign a quality replacement for him. The 25-year-old is now expected to leave the club in January. His contract will expire at the end of the season, and Crystal Palace is under pressure to agree to his departure. They won’t want to lose him for free in the summer.

Mark Guehi’s position on the move

According to journalist Dean Jones via TEAMtalkGuehi no longer has any preference towards Liverpool, and he could consider moving to any club. The development would be a blow to Liverpool. They certainly hope to sign the player in the near future.

“I think we need to be very clear that the situation has changed with Joey,” Dean Jones said. “He looks at things from a new perspective now. His style of transmission is not clouded by thoughts of the past.

He added: “So I would take the Bayern rumors seriously, it could be something that starts to have real traction as a player thinks about his next move.

“Of course there was a feeling of disappointment when his move to Liverpool fell through, but some reports were exaggerated in terms of his reaction.

“He always knew there was a chance the deal could fall through and he is a player with a balanced head who knows there are other opportunities ahead of him.

“He wanted to join Liverpool and is still interested, but now it’s completely open. I don’t think he’s more likely to commit to Anfield than any other big club at the moment.”

He added: “I understand that he looks at everything with new eyes, and Bayern could become a very interesting option.”
