Chelsea director Enzo Marisca confirmed that Liam Dilab’s injury in the knee strings may exclude him for up to two months, adding to the increasing deficiency in the club for the strikers.

The 21-year-old striker was forced to leave just 15 minutes away from Blues 2-0 victory over Fulham on Saturday, holding the knee strings before Tirik George replaced him.

The setback comes on the same day that Nicholas Jackson allowed him to travel to Germany to finish the loan transfer to Bayern Munich, while Christopher Nkco was transferred to Milan on Friday.

As a result, Chelsea can now be left with Joao Pedro’s availability only as a great striker in the foreseeable future.

Speaking to TNT SPORTS after the game, Maresca admitted that the expectations were not positive:
“The knee strings were full speed,” the Italian explained.

“We hope the time is long, but this type of cases, this type of injury, can always be six or eight weeks.”

Chelsea coach later expanded in the situation in his press conference after the match, and he admitted that the club may need to think about attacking reinforcements before closing the deadline for transportation at 7 pm on Monday.

He said: “Liam’s injury does not seem good in terms of, as it was the maximum speed, and the knee strings, and this requires, as always, weeks.”

“After that, with regard to another attacker, to be honest, we just finished the game from the changing room and we came here at the press conference. Now that we have finished, we will sit and see if we were making any decision. That’s everything.”
