Manchester United is preparing to face Liverpool in the English Premier League in one of the biggest matches of the season.
Fears are rife that one of United’s key stars is under-performing, sparking criticism that he could be unraveled by Liverpool’s intensity and pressing.
Liverpool have outperformed United in recent history but their current form is worrying and perhaps Ruben Amorim and his team can capitalize on that.
However, what worries United is the form of left-back Luke Shaw, who according to former Red Devil Paul Parker, could be compromised by Liverpool’s pace and energy.
Manchester United star Luke Shaw receives criticism
Parker believes Shaw could be United’s weak link Against Liverpool in an exciting match on Sunday in the English Premier League.
Shaw, who has started every league game this season for Amorim, has often struggled for pace and concentration and going up against someone like Mohamed Salah faces his biggest challenge of the season so far.
“You look at the teams they’ve played against and they can’t handle the speed and energy levels.” Parker said Devils advocate Podcast.
“If Liverpool played them, it would be great, but I don’t think they will do that. I think they will try to turn things around, especially on the left side with Luke Shaw.
He added: “Salah will look to run at the back with and without the ball, and he knows Luke Shaw’s laziness, which will attract him to his shirt all the time and little things like that.”
“They don’t have the discipline and trustworthy people to play for what the coach wants to do.
“You can bitch and complain about his system, but at the end of the day, they want to use this word elite to describe these players today, which is completely inappropriate to be quite honest, but if they are that elite, they will be smart enough to do it.”
Shaw will have to deal with Mohamed Salah

Shaw has often been the weak link in United’s defence, and against a team like Liverpool, who like to attack from wide positions and rely heavily on Salah, Shaw will need to be at his best in order to defend properly and survive the attack.
Having lost their last two Premier League matches, Arne Slott’s side will be eager to make a statement against their rivals and get back to winning ways.
Shaw will need support from the wide players as well to defend, and he cannot be left alone to deal with Salah’s threat.
