Manchester City coach Gareth Taylor dismissed, as former President Nick Kushing returned to take over on a temporary basis for the rest of the season.

City Chelsea is playing in the League Cup final in Wembley on Saturday, but they are outside the UEFA Champions League places in the Premier League.

“Manchester City is proud to compete at the WSL summit and its distinguished record to qualify for the European competition,” said administrative director Charlotte O’Neill on the club’s official website.

Unfortunately, this season’s results have not yet reached this high level.

“Six of the WSL campaign remains, we believe that the change of management will breathe a new life in an attempt to ensure the rehabilitation of the Champions League for women 2025-26.

“We would like to register our thanks to Gareth for all his efforts during his many years in the city. The FA Cup and the League Cup victories will remain special moments in the history of this football club. We wish him all the best for the future.”

Former city striker Taylor was appointed as head of the Women’s Team in 2020, and he won the FA Cup that year and the League Cup in 2022.

They were in the ministers last season, where they ended behind Chelsea with a goal difference on the last day of the campaign.
