A statement in the city wrote: “Manchester City can confirm that Omar Marmoush has suffered a knee injury during international service with Egypt.
“The city striker has suffered from injury in the early stages of the World Cup qualifiers in Egypt with Burkina Faso on Tuesday evening.
The preliminary results indicate the examination in Egypt that it will not be available to Manchester Derby on Sunday, and will now return to Manchester for further evaluation and start rehabilitation.
“Everyone in City wished for a quick recovery.”
