English club Manchester City announced its contract with Egyptian striker Omar Marmoush, coming from German club Eintracht Frankfurt.

The 25-year-old signed a four-and-a-half-year contract until June 2029.

Marmoush scored 15 goals in 17 German League matches this season, ranking second after Bayern Munich’s Harry Kane.

“This is a day I will never forget,” Marmoush said.

“Signing for Manchester City – one of the best teams in the world – is a great feeling. I am happy, my family is very proud, and we are all very happy to be here in Manchester.

“With Pep, his coaching staff and the world-class facilities here, the players have everything they need to improve. It was really tempting for me when I had the opportunity to come here.

“And I can’t deny that I also want to win trophies. City have been the most successful club in England for many years, so I know I’ve joined a winning environment and a winning culture.

“I want to learn from my staff and teammates, and I want to become an important member of this winning team.

He added: “I’m really looking forward to moving on, meeting the other players and showing the Manchester City fans what I can do.”

City also signed 19-year-old defender Vitor Reis from Palmeiras and defender Abdulkader Khosanov from Lens in the January transfer window.

Marmoush heads to the Premier League after just 18 months with Frankfurt, after joining from Wolfsburg on a free transfer.

The talented striker, who can operate in a front three, was left out of Frankfurt’s squad that beat Borussia Dortmund on Friday night, with the German club confirming they are in talks over his departure.

Director of Football Txiki Begiristain said: “Omar is a brilliant and exciting striker, and I am delighted to have him join us.

“He had a fantastic season and every time we watched him, he made an impact on games.

“He has all the attributes a top-class striker needs. He has great pace and awareness, and is exceptional in front of goal. He can also play in a number of different positions, which is really valuable.”

He added: “I have no doubt that working with Pep and the technical staff here at City will make him develop his wonderful attacking talent.”
