Canada hosted a virtual meeting of the G7 financial ministers on Friday to discuss more measures to increase pressure on Russia.
John Fergus, the press secretary of the Minister of Finance and National Revenue, says the group also spoke about ways to reduce the “war mechanism” in Russia.
Fragos says G7 is united in its opposition to “illegal and unjustified war” on Ukraine.
It also says that Canada is very concerned about the escalation of Russia to the conflict on Wednesday Russian drone penetration into the Polish air field.
The G7 group of Canada, the United States, France, Germany, Italy, Japan and the United Kingdom consists of the European Union as a “inappropriate member”.
Earlier this month, after Russian President Vladimir Putin threatened to target the foreign forces that were deployed in Ukraine, Prime Minister Mark Carney said that Canada and other allies need to maintain a “maximum pressure” on Moscow.
