Macron warns that the West may lose its credibility over the wars of Ukraine and Gaza

France President Emmanuel Macron has warned that the United States and Europe risked the loss of their credibility and accused “double standards” if they did not resolve wars in Ukraine and Gaza soon.

Asian countries also appealed to building a new alliance with Europe to ensure that they do not become “side effects” in the struggle for power between the United States and China.

Macron was speaking in the Shangri La dialogue, a high -level Asian defense summit held in Singapore.

Among the guests listening, US Defense Minister Beit Higseth, as well as senior military officials from the region.

Macron pointed out that if Russia can take Ukrainian lands “without any restrictions, without any restrictions … What can happen in Taiwan? What will the day do in the Philippines?”

“What is at the stake in Ukraine is our common credibility, that we are still able to preserve regional integrity and people’s sovereignty,” he said. “No double standards.”

Many people in Asia are concerned about the instability in the region that China is forcibly trying to “reunite” with Taiwan, a self -loading island claiming Beijing as part of its territory. China has increasingly clashed with the Philippines due to competing claims in the South China Sea.

Macron later answered a question posed by the BBC Security Correspondent Frank Gardner about the military role of Europe in Asia while the full war was going on the continent.

The French leader said: “If both the United States and the Europeans are not able to reform in the short term on the Ukrainian situation, I think that the credibility of both the United States and the Europeans pretends to reform any crisis in this region, it will be very low,” said the French leader.

US President Donald Trump has been increasingly pressure on Russia and Ukraine to end the war, and it appears to be Vladimir Putin as a final date for two weeks. Trump has previously reprimanded Ukrainian leader Folodimir Zellinski and accused him of “not ready for peace.”

Macron also explained his point of view on the double standards in the war in Gaza, admitting that there was a conception that the West gave a “free pass” to Israel.

He stressed the importance of working for a ceasefire and mutual recognition of a Palestinian state, saying: “If we abandon Gaza, if we consider that there is a free pass for Israel, even if we condemn terrorist attacks, then we kill our credibility in the rest of the world.”

In recent weeks, European leaders have criticized Israel’s attacks due to the increasingly desperate humanitarian situation in Gaza.

Macron is close to recognizing a refer to a Palestinian state. Next month, France will participate in hosting the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia at the United Nations conference aimed at setting a road map to resolve a state.

He was severely criticized by Israel, as the Foreign Ministry said on Friday: “Instead of exerting pressure on jihadist terrorists, Macron wants to reward them with a Palestinian state.”

Last week, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu also launched a blatant attack on Macron, Canada and the United Kingdom, accusing them of effective curve with Hamas and being “on the wrong side of humanity.”

Meanwhile, the United States has worked with Israel to direct a ceasefire proposal to Hamas, with a large -scale distribution model in Gaza.

Macron also used his speech on Friday to sell his vision for “strategic self -rule”, as the two countries protect their interests while also working closely to support the global command based on the rules that are not dominated by the great powers.

He described France as an example of being a friend of the United States and China while guarding its sovereignty, and said that this model can be the basis of a new alliance between Europe and Asia.

He said: “We want to cooperate, but we do not want to rely … We do not want to ask for instructions daily as permitted, what is not allowed and how our lives can change due to a decision by one person,” which appears to be a veiled sign to Trump or Chinese President Xi Jinping.

He also pointed to Trump’s global tariff and allies of security allies in the United States, saying: “We cannot remain sitting and say … What do we do with definitions, well, we are not sure that we have the full guarantee in the current alliance, what do we do?”

“We want to act, we want to preserve our stability, peace and prosperity,” he said.

He pointed out that both the challenges of Europe and Asia are increasingly intertwined, and pointed to the Ukrainian war again, as North Korea was helping Russia’s efforts with thousands of its forces.

Macron said that in the past he objected to the Western NATO alliance with a role in Asia, “because I do not want to participate in the strategic competition of another person.”

“But what happens with the presence of North Korea alongside Russia on European soil is a big question for all of us,” he said.

“So this is the reason that China does not want NATO to participate in Southeast Asia or Asia, it must clearly prevent (North Korea) from participating in European soil.”

Matteo Doshatil, director of international studies at the Paris Reservation Research Institute in Paris, said Macron’s credibility was “implicit criticism of the Middle East policy of the United States, and a direct call to the United States to control its diplomacy towards Russia.”

Observers agree that China is likely to be angry with Macron’s speech, as Dr. Doshatil indicated that the comments of the French leader on Taiwan were “far from what he went” in this case.

And Andrew Small, a senior colleague of the research program in Washington in Washington, said that some parts of Asia may welcome Macron’s message about strategic self -rule given their concerns about the choice between the United States and China.

He said, “His argument is that most of the rest of the world does not want to be stuck with this division and wants to collect some version of the global order – and this is what a number of countries in Asia agreed.”

Among many European and Asian countries, Dr. Small said, there was “real concern about how China explained the Russian victory” in Ukraine, while “the Trump administration takes a different point of view and is trying to raise not reading.”

He added that Macron mentioned a recognition of a Palestinian state – which France was leading European efforts – was the reference to “we are moving on this.”
